360 KB: DOAJ titles to lose coverage dates - Mar 2021

Background
In late 2020, DOAJ changed the types of data that they collect from OA publishers, and the way that they distribute metadata to 3rd parties such as Ex Libris. One of the changes they made was the removal of coverage information from their title-level CSV export, which DOAJ felt was not necessarily understood by the publishers or entered properly and became problematic to support. Impacts
Removal of the open access start date to the CSV file means that 360 KB will no longer have coverage information for each title, which affects how rights are communicated from the KB to the Central Discovery Index (CDI)/Summon, and how 360 Link will determine availability. If you take no action, 360 Link will assume that all articles from all titles in DOAJ are available to all libraries. Some of these titles have portions of their run that require a subscription or purchase (which the coverage dates previously accounted for), so there is an increased likelihood of encountering inaccessible links. There are a few options that you may want to consider:
- Uncheck "Display in 360 Link" on the Database Details page
- In Intota: Database Details
- In the Client Center: Database Details
- If you keep "Summon" checked for DOAJ, but "360 Link" unchecked, this will allow for getting the IEDL links through CDI for individual articles, but remove potentially problematic results passing citations through 360 Link.
- Add a Public Note could help explain to users that results from 360 Link may not always be accessible to them.
- This could be especially helpful if you decide to keep DOAJ displayed in 360 Link (per the option above). For example, if your library does not have Summon.
