360 KB: Gale NewsVault Database: Titles Will Be Removed -- September 2018

What is happening to the database Gale NewsVault?

ProQuest currently has title-level information for the Gale NewsVault from provider Gale Cengage in the Knowledgebase. Gale has informed us that this database is actually a search platform, not a content database. Gale NewsVault's content also depends on what primary source news databases your library has purchased access to, so the content is not standardized across all clients.

In order to maintain accurate and authoritative provider metadata (based on the Knowledgebase collection policy), all titles will be removed from Gale NewsVault database in the Knowledgebase on September 10, 2018. The database will become a zero-titles database. (NOTE: The database code for this database is O6H.)

This means that this database (and its titles) will not be available to your patrons who use the E-Journal Portal or 360 Link, and you won't receive MARC updates for this database. However, the database will still be available for 360 Search, 360 Counter, 360 Resource Manager, Intota, and the Summon™ service.

Actions you may need to take:

    • If you are a 360 Resource Manager, 360 Counter, or Intota client, you may need to make some changes to your account settings before September 10:
      • Intota users click here.
      • Client Center users click here.
