360 KB: PAO Databases from ProQuest: Database Name Change -- April 2020

What is happening to the name of ProQuest's PAO databases?

ProQuest is standardizing "PAO" to "Periodicals Archive Online" across the Periodicals Archive Online databases.

Therefore, we will be changing the database name in the Knowledgebase. The content of the databases, and the database IDs, will remain the same.

This change will take effect on April 30, 2020:

DB Code DB name before April 30 DB name after April 30
~PA PAO Collection 0 Periodicals Archive Online Collection 0
~OS PAO Collection 10 Periodicals Archive Online Collection 10
~P6 PAO Collection 6 Periodicals Archive Online Collection 6
~P7 PAO Collection 7 Periodicals Archive Online Collection 7
~P8 PAO Collection 8 Periodicals Archive Online Collection 8
~P9 PAO Collection 9 Periodicals Archive Online Collection 9
~PI PAO English Literature Collection Periodicals Archive Online English Literature Collection
~PK PAO Historical Studies Collection Periodicals Archive Online Historical Studies Collection
~PL PAO History Collection Periodicals Archive Online History Collection
~PN PAO Liberal Arts Collection 1 Periodicals Archive Online Liberal Arts Collection 1

~PP PAO Liberal Arts Collection 3 Periodicals Archive Online Liberal Arts Collection 3
~PQ PAO Liberal Arts Collection 4 Periodicals Archive Online Liberal Arts Collection 4
~PR PAO Literary Studies Collection Periodicals Archive Online Literary Studies Collection
~PS PAO Philosophy & Religion Collection Periodicals Archive Online Philosophy & Religion Collection
~PT PAO Spanish Language Collection Periodicals Archive Online Spanish Language Collection

~PG PAO Custom Collection - Metzler Periodicals Archive Online Custom Collection - Metzler
~PH PAO Custom Collection - Sociologie Periodicals Archive Online Custom Collection - Sociologie

The following databases already conform to this standard, and will not be changing:

    DB code DB name
~OC Periodicals Archive Online Collection 1
0R3 Periodicals Archive Online Collection 1.2
~OU Periodicals Archive Online Collection 2
~OW Periodicals Archive Online Collection 2.2
EGZRM Periodicals Archive Online Collection 3.1
~P~ Periodicals Archive Online Collection 3.2
~P1 Periodicals Archive Online Collection 3.3
~OY Periodicals Archive Online Collection 3.4
~P3 Periodicals Archive Online Collection 4
~P5 Periodicals Archive Online Collection 5
~PJ Periodicals Archive Online Foundation Collection
AGQHT Periodicals Archive Online Foundation Collection 2
BEAJS Periodicals Archive Online Foundation Collection 3
~PM Periodicals Archive Online JISC Collection
ADALA Periodicals Archive Online JISC Collection 2
ABKTN Periodicals Archive Online JSTOR Titles

Actions you may need to take:

    • If you are a 360 MARC Updates client and have requested the custom specification that adds the database name as it appears in the Client Center/Intota to MARC records, you can expect to see some change records when you get your MARC records after April 30.
    • If your library uses a third-party service (such as EBSCO A-Z, etc.), custom scripts to manage data, or other non-ProQuest tools that require the database name to function, you should note the change in ProQuest's database name in order to retain the proper relationship/mapping between those tools.
