360 KB: PAO databases from ProQuest: Database Migration -- August 2018

What is happening to the PAO databases?

ProQuest has simplified their PAO collections, which were causing linking problems in the past. They have retired some of these older databases and all subscribers must move to their equivalent databases instead. The older collections are no longer being updated.

In order to maintain accurate and authoritative provider metadata (based on the Knowledgebase collection policy), these older databases (noted on the left side of the table below) have been hidden and no new subscriptions to these databases are possible. Institutions which are already subscribed will still have access to their data. The PAO titles are now available in the databases found on the right side under New DBID/New DB Name in the table below.

These changes will take effect on 31 August:

Old DBID Old DB Name New DBID New DB Name
~OG PAO Collection 1 (purchase pre Feb/2008) ~OC Periodicals Archive Online Collection 1
~OB PAO Collection 1 0R3 Periodicals Archive Online Collection 1.2
~OT PAO Collection 2 (purchase pre Oct/2008) ~OU Periodicals Archive Online Collection 2
~OV PAO Collection 2 ~OW Periodicals Archive Online Collection 2.2
~OX PAO Collection 3 (purchase pre Aug/2005) EGZRM Periodicals Archive Online Collection 3.1
~OZ PAO Collection 3 (subscription only) ~P~ Periodicals Archive Online Collection 3.2
~P. PAO Collection 3 (purchase post Aug/2005) ~P1 Periodicals Archive Online Collection 3.3
~P0 PAO Collection 3 (purchase pre Aug/2005+extra titles) ~OY Periodicals Archive Online Collection 3.4
~P2 PAO Collection 4 ~P3 Periodicals Archive Online Collection 4
~P4 PAO Collection 5 ~P5 Periodicals Archive Online Collection 5

    Action you need to take:

    • Update the holdings in your Intota or Client Center profile by subscribing to the new database instead of the old database.  For information on how to update your profile, and considerations prior to removing the old database from your profile:
      • Intota users click here.
      • Client Center users click here.
    • If you are a 360 MARC Updates client and have requested the custom specification that adds direct URLs or database specific information to MARC records, you can expect to see some change records when you get your MARC records after 31 August.
