360 KB: ScienceDirect Health and Life Sciences College Edition from Elsevier: Some Titles Will Be Removed -- Mar 2015

What is happening to the ScienceDirect Health & Life Sciences College Edition database?

Elsevier has separated titles in the ScienceDirect Health & Life Sciences College Edition database into two databases: a Books database and Journals database.

In order to maintain accurate and authoritative provider metadata (based on the 360 KB collection policy), JOURNAL titles will be removed from ScienceDirect Health & Life Sciences College Edition database in 360 KB on March 16, 2015. The BOOK titles will remain, and we have created a new database for the JOURNAL titles, which is now available: database code AFXIZ. (NOTE: The database code for the old database is SHL.)

This change will take effect on March 16, 2015:

Please note, the database names for ScienceDirect Health & Life Sciences College Edition and ScienceDirect Health & Life Sciences College Edition [SCHLS] - Journals will also be updated during the week of March 16 as part of the changes outlined in Article number 12040).

 

Action you need to take:

• Once the above change takes effect, update your Data Management by subscribing to the new database in addition to the old database, if you have access to both books and journals.  Information is available here regarding how to update Data Management, and 360 Resource Manager and 360 Counter considerations prior to removing the old database from your profile.
• If you are a 360 MARC Updates client and have requested the custom specification that adds direct URLs or database specific information to MARC records, you can expect to see some change records when you get your MARC records after March 16.
