360 KB: ScienceDirect databases from Elsevier: Database Name Changes -- May 2015

    • Product: 360 KB

What is happening to the names of ScienceDirect databases?

December 2, 2015 Update: Corrected the link to the file attachment below.

The provider Elsevier has updated the names of ScienceDirect databases by adding product codes to the end of the database names. Furthermore, Legacy databases have been appended with a Legacy Collection number (ex: Legacy 1) at the end of the package names, as well as the product code.

Therefore, we will be updating the database names in the 360 KB knowledgebase. The content of the databases, and the database IDs, will remain the same.

This change was scheduled to take effect during the week of March 23, 2015. Due to unforeseen circumstances, this process is taking much longer than expected. We hope to have the changes in place by the end of May 2015 . Please see attached file for current and new database names.

Actions you may need to take:

    • If you are a 360 MARC Updates client and have requested the custom specification that adds the database name as it appears in the Client Center to MARC records, you can expect to see some change records when you get your MARC records after the database names are updated in May 2015.
    • If your library uses a third-party service (such as SFX, EBSCO A-Z, etc.), custom scripts to manage data, or other non-Serials Solutions tools that require the database name to function, you should note the change in Serials Solutions' database name in order to retain the proper relationship/mapping between those tools.
