360 Link: Springer Transition to https -- effective August 16, 2017
- Product: 360 Link
What is happening to the URL linking syntax of the Springer platform?
The provider Springer-Verlag has transitioned two of their platforms to secure http (https) URLs.
"We are continuing to take steps to move towards a more secure web browsing experience for our users by transitioning SpringerLink from the HTTP protocol to the HTTPS protocol."
In addition to the SpringerLink platform that was transitioned in May, the Springer R and D platform is also redirecting to the secure protocol website (HTTPS).
For more information, please see Springer's statement on their website.
Although redirects are in place for HTTP to HTTPS, we will be releasing a new version of the 360 Link XML to reflect this transition and better facilitate article level linking on August 16, 2017.
Before August 16: http://link.springer.com or http://rd.springer.com
After August 16: https://link.sprnger.com or https://rd.springer.com
Therefore, we will be changing the linking syntax for both of these platforms. The content of the database will remain the same.
This change will take effect on [effective date, in bold]:
- Before August 16: http://link.springer.com or http://rd.springer.com
- After August 16: https://link.springer.com or https://rd.springer.com
Actions you may need to take:
- Make sure that either https://link.springer.com and/or https://rd.springer.com are included in your proxy configuration before August 16.
