360 Core and 360 MARC Updates: Data on Demand Reports and MARC Updates Take a Long Time to Generate

    • Product: 360 MARC Updates

Why do Data On Demand reports take so long to run in the middle of each month?

Between the 6th and the 15th day of each month, we run many monthly MARC Updates, Data on Demand reports, and different spreadsheet and PDF reports using our Data on Demand (DoD) system.
Because the DoD system can process only a limited number of reports at a time, sometimes reports need to wait in a queue before they can be run by DoD. Furthermore, if a report being run by DoD encounters an error, that report must usually be re-run. If this happens to a number of reports, it can increase the length of the queue and thus increase delays. Delays are usually most severe between the 6th and 10th of the month, becoming less so after that, and generally clearing up entirely on the 16th or 17th of the month.
If you requested a DoD report and it is taking a long time to generate, please wait for it to finish before requesting another report, as submitting another report request will add the extra report to the DoD queue, increasing delays. Generally the delay should not be more than 30 minutes.
NOTE: Management reports and 360 Counter reports do not use the DoD system and therefore are not subject to the queue delays described here.
