ARC Access Error in "Data source: Aleph_Reporting"

    • Article Type: General
    • Product: Aleph
    • Product Version: 18.01

    Description:
EL recently installed ARC on our TEST server and our DBAs cloned the ARC database from our production server and put the copy on TEST. We can access the data fine through SQLplus.
All 3 processes (iplanet, apache, cognos) are running right now on TEST. I can log into iplanet and see Cognos Connection. I can also open Report Studio and build a report from the data elements in the models. However, when I try to run a report -- canned or created -- I am asked to log in again, and then the report never runs. Specifically, the error is:
"Enter a user ID and password
An attempt to connect to the data source has failed.
    Data source:
    Aleph_Reporting"
The database we're using on TEST is alephr (as opposed to alepha on Production). Is the problem here that Cognos cannot connect to alephr?

    Resolution:
The problem was the 'sign on' of the data source 'Aleph_reporting'.
It was configured as USM50 and not as USMR0 (which is the ARC scheme). I changed it to USMR0.
(From tools in the ARC portal, choose "Directory". Then choose the second tab = "Data Sources". Then choose "Aleph Reporting", and edit the "sign on").
The reports can be executed now.
