    Add 020 $$z to Indexes

    • Article Type: General
    • Product: Aleph
    • Product Version: 20

    Description:
Would you please add MARC field 020 subfield $$z to both the word index and the direct index on our test server. The new entries should parallel the indexing of 020 $$a, so that where 020 $$a is indexed, 020 $$z will now also be indexed.

Will this change pick up subfield $$z if it is not the first subfield in field 020? According to the MARC standard, 020 $$z is repeatable. Will this change pick up multiple occurrences of subfield $$z within the same field 020?

    Resolution:
We found that the abc01 020 direct index already existed in the tab11_ind and had already been built. We have done the following in abc01:
    * Added "ISBN (with $$z's)" to the Browse - Headings List options
    * Added "ISBN (with $$z's)" to the Find indexes (at the bottom)
    * Changed the Multi-field Search option from ISBN to "ISBN (with $$z's)"

The "ISBN (with $$z's)" index includes a separate index entry for each $$z subfield in the 020 field (in addition to each $$a).

You will need to restart your GUI Cataloging client in order to see these new entries.
