After OCLC change to 9 digits: still receiving 8-digit numbers

    • Article Type: General
    • Product: Aleph
    • Product Version: 17.01

    Description:
We are using fix_doc_oclc_2 for exporting from Connexion. We have SP 882 for v17 installed. The test I did:

Before SP installed and before Nov 12.
OCLC #: 8558812 (only 7 digits) exported to Aleph. The 035 looks like:
035 $$a08558812 (a zero padded in the front of the number to make it 8 digits. It is normal and it is right)

After Nov.12 (today) and SP installed.
OCLC # 123456789 (it is 9digits) exported to Aleph The 035 field looks like:
    035 $$a123456789 ( which looks correct)

OCLC # 8558811 (only 7 digits) exported to Aleph. The 035 field looks like:
035 $$a08558811 (we are expecting 9 digits, but only one zero is placed in front of the number instead of two).

What changes are needed to correct this?

    Resolution:
It is not the case that all OCLC records you receive after Nov. 12 will have 9-digit numbers.

Record 99999999 and under will continue to have 8-digit numbers and (for bib records) an "ocm" prefix: ocm99999999, ocm00012345.

Records greater than 99999999 will have 9-digit numbers and (for bib records) an "ocn" prefix: ocn100000000.

If you want to see the record exactly as it is being sent by OCLC, go to $LOGDIR and look at the records in the oclc_ser_nnnn files.

    Additional Information

    oclc, 9 digit
