Aleph 21 Upgrade: no v21 to log into

    • Article Type: General
    • Product: Aleph
    • Product Version: 20

    Problem Symptoms:
    * Attempting to Upgrade server from Version 20 to 21 using the "In Place" option, the Create Customer Data export has been performed successfully in the source instance.

    * The next step is to transfer export file to the target instance, but nothing is being moved and Upgrade Express doesn't give the option to "Install customer data".

    * The "Upgrade Express 20.01 to 21.01 User Guide" document refers to logging out from v20 source and logging into the v21 target, but in this case they are one in the same; there is no v21 to "log into"...

    Cause:
Version 21 instance needs to be created (using AIK) prior to running Upgrade Express.

    Resolution:
The "Upgrade Express 20.01 to 21.01 User Guide" needs to mention the AIK (Aleph Installation Kit).

Specifically, in Section 2.3. Prerequisites "Installing the Target Version (21.01)", the following needs to be added:

" The target environment can be installed using the AIK (Aleph Installation Kit) for customer self-installation. The AIK is described in the Ex Libris Documentation Center > Aleph > Technical Documentation > Version 21 > Installation and Upgrade Information > "Aleph Installation Kit" document. "
