    Aleph commands (dlib, "cd $aleph_proc") etc. not working

    • Product: Aleph
    • Product Version: 20, 21, 22, 23
    • Relevant for Installation Type: Dedicated-Direct, Direct, Local, Total Care

    Description

    A new Aleph instance was working OK, but after running Upgrade Express unsuccessfully, nothing in Aleph is working:
    "dlib usm01" gives "dlib: Command not found";
    "cd $aleph_proc" gives "aleph_proc: Undefined variable"';
    "upgrade_util" gives "Command not found";

    etc.

    Resolution

    This can happen when the $alephe_root/aleph_start is missing or severely defective.
    In this case the Upgrade Express log showed:
    "Renaming /exlibris/aleph/u23_1/alephe to /exlibris/aleph/u23_1/alephe.orig"
    But (because of a space problem) the import of the source ./alephe did not occur.  Thus, there was no ./alephe at all.

    This was resolved by doing this:

    > cd /exlibris/aleph/u23_1
    > cp -pr alephe.orig alephe

    and then starting a new (duplicate) session.
