Bib Requests vs. Title Requests: Which should we use?

    • Article Type: General
    • Product: Aleph
    • Product Version: 18.01

    Description:
KB-8378 "RC 000541: A new function, PPH (Patron Placed Holds), has been implemented" identifies some new functionality related to "Bib Requests".

In version 18 there is functionality of "Title Requests".

Do both of these function in Aleph? If they are both functional, how do they differ and why would you use one over the other?

    Resolution:
The rep_change you refer to is a *version 16* rep_change and the PPH ("bib request") function which it describes is an earlier form of the version 18 Title Request ("PDQ") functionality.

The Title Request functionality handles requests in the Union View -- which the PPH did not.

Though the programs may still be there, I think it is better to use the Title Requests functionality, as described in the "How to configure and use title hold requests" document (attached to KB 7212).
