Blocks by cash limit, including accrued amount

    • Article Type: General
    • Product: Aleph
    • Product Version: 20, 21, 22, 23

    Description:
We wish to block a patron from loaning items if the patrons accrued overdue fines + existing fines exceed $10 (as specified in the xxx50 tab_block_circ table).
However, we found that ALEPH only computes the $10 limit based on the patrons' current amount owing found in the Z31 cash table (ie. existing fines).
The system excludes accrued overdue fines for items which are overdue and not returned (i.e. fines which are not in Z31 as the item is not returned yet).
Is there a way for us to block a patron based on the sum of existing fines plus accrued overdue fines?

    Resolution:
In ALEPH, the fine or cash amount that shows as part of the Loan information (that is, for loans which have not been returned or "open" loans) is virtual and is not checked by the system when applying any loan or renew blocks.

Note that these accrued overdue fines represent overdue items and the xxx50 tab_block_circ table does also allow you to block patrons when a maximum number of overdue items is reached.   It possible that reducing that number could help with this situation.
