Command not found trying to start a server

    • Article Type: General
    • Product: Aleph
    • Product Version: 15.2

    Description:
In trying to start a server (pc_server, www_server, etc.) you get a message "xxxx: Command not found" (where "xxxx" can be pretty much any text).

    Resolution:
When you start a server, the system invokes the $aleph_proc/xxx_server procedure (pc_server, www_server, etc.). This proc --or something it has copied in-- has an error. The "something it has copied in" is usually the pc_server defaults or the www_server_defaults (www_server.conf in 15.2-up). Most commonly a line in this file which you had intended to be a comment does not have a proper comment symbol ("#") in front of it. The text of the error message ("xxxx" above) is the first word of this uncommented line.

    Additional Information

    start, server
