    • Article Type: General
    • Product: Aleph
    • Product Version: 20

    Problem Symptoms:
The pds_server.log file shows "Connection refused" error immediately after pds_handle request to sent to Aleph.
The ports are open between servers.

    Header: Host <{hostname}:8992>
    Header: Connection <Keep-Alive>
    connect: Connection refused

When checking with the wget URL, the function works properly and returns correct results. Why is the connection refused although there is no firewall and the ports are open?

    Cause:
PDS host+port length limited to 40 characters in Aleph 20

    Resolution:
Change the PDS_HOST in $alephe_root/aleph_start to the server's IP instead of the hostname. This makes the PDS_HOST and PDS_PORT shorter than 40 characters.

    Additional Information

The fix is rep_ver #17610 for version 21. In v21 the limit is 100 characters.
