Course reserves showing items from previous semesters

    • Article Type: General
    • Product: Aleph
    • Product Version: 18.01

    Description:
Course Reserve record CNO-6 fields with an "NA" (Not Active) subfield are being included in the ABC30_P (public) base.

What should be done for these records not to be displayed in the specific base?

    Resolution:
In one case, the tab_base.eng had this:

    ABC30_1 Crs Rsv Spring ABC30 EXU30 ABC30 N wpe=spring
    ABC30_2 Crs Rsv Summer ABC30 EXU30 ABC30 N wpe=summer
    ABC30_3 Crs Rsv Fall ABC30 EXU30 ABC30 N wpe=fall
    ABC30_4 Crs Rsv Winter ABC30 USM30 ABC30 N wpe=winter

In order for the addition of "NA" to cause a course to be suppressed from inclusion, the bases need to be changed to these:

    ABC30_1 Crs Rsv Spring ABC30 EXU30 ABC30 N wpe=spring not wpe = NA
    ABC30_2 Crs Rsv Summer ABC30 EXU30 ABC30 N wpe=summer not wpe = NA
    ABC30_3 Crs Rsv Fall ABC30 EXU30 ABC30 N wpe=fall not wpe = NA
    ABC30_4 Crs Rsv Winter ABC30 USM30 ABC30 N wpe=winter not wpe = NA

In second case, the tab_base.eng line was:

    ABC30_P Reserves ABC30 ABC01 USM01 ABC30 N wpe=spring
    not wpe=NA

(Though on another line, this "not" was immediately after "spring".)

    After correcting it to:

    ABC_P Reserves ABC30 ABC01 USM01 ABC30 N wpe=spring
    not wpe=NA

(with a space in front of the "not") it was OK.

Note: You also need to be sure that the second line is concatenated to the first: When you move your cursor down, it should skip over the second line and move to the line which follows it, indicating that the second line is a continuation of the first.
