Customers of Ex Libris Germany and change in file_list-templates in Aleph 20

    • Article Type: General
    • Product: Aleph
    • Product Version: 20

    Description:
Our Aleph 18 installation has been done by Ex Libris Germany. We heard that in Aleph 20 now the file_list-templates have slightly been changed.
Is there anything we need to take care about during upgrade Aleph 18 - Aleph 20?

    Resolution:
Aleph-customers where the installation of Aleph 18 has been done by Ex Libris Germany should be aware, that in Aleph 18 this office has used file_list-templates that have definition that differs
slightly from the templates used by other offices. In Aleph 20 all offices are using the same file_list-templates.

To prevent potential problems caused by this change in file_list-definitions we recommend all Aleph 18-customers, where the installation has been performed by Ex Libris Germany, to create a merged file_list in $data_root with your Aleph 18-definitions. So in Aleph 20 you would use the same definitions as before.

For this purpose we have provided a script. To use this script follow these instructions:

    1) Log in to ftp.exl.de.
    User: ver18_l
    PW: M0zartl

    2) Go to directory /server/file_list_script
    ftp> cd /server/file_list_script

    3) Download file create_full_dr_filelist.tar.gz to any place on your Aleph 18-server.
    get create_full_dr_filelist.tar.gz

    4) Unpack the file.
    gunzip create_full_dr_filelist.tar.gz

    5) Untar the file.
    tar xvf create_full_dr_filelist.tar

    6) Change to directory create_full_dr_filelist.
    cd create_full_dr_filelist

    7) Call up script aaa_create_full_dr_filelist and follow the instructions on the screen.
    ./aaa_create_full_dr_filelist

Please note that it is important to create the merged file_list before you pack library data and configuration tables on the Aleph 18 source system.
Customers that have got their Aleph 18-installation from other offices are not affected by the problem.
