    Differences in p_cir_50, 51, and 52

    Description:
    How are cir-50, cir-51, and cir-52 different?

    Resolution:
p_cir_50 and p_cir_51 print overdue notices and Lost item bills. p_cir_50 sends a separate notice for each overdue item and a separate billing notice for each Lost or "Claims Returned" item. It uses the overdue-letter-xx-yy form.

p_cir_51 (overdue and Lost billing summary) can print overdue and Lost billing summaries. Though it has the option of separating the notices by letter number (warning level), all letter numbers are processed as part of the same run. If the loans have been made by a proxy, then a notice letter may be printed for the proxy in addition to that for the sponsor (depending on the Z303-PROXY-ID-TYPE). {p_cir_50 and p_cir_52 print a notice for the z36_id (the sponsor) only.} It uses the overdue-summary-xx-yy form.

The z36 loan record contains a z36_letter_number field which is a count of how many overdue notices have been sent. p_cir_52 (overdue summary single letter) produces overdue summaries for a single letter number (warning level) only. You run the job for first notices, then for second notices, etc. Since most North American libraries don't want or need to do separate runs like this, p_cir_52 is not generally used. It uses the overdue-sum-single-xx-yy form.

Summary: Most libraries use p_cir_51; that's what we recommend.
