Disabling downlinks to child records from parent record in Web OPAC

Description:
We have a parent archival record with 119 'children' (an analyzed record). We have suppressed these child records and they correctly are not searchable in the WOPAC. However, the automatic downlink that is put in a parent record once you establish the uplink in the child record is still dynamic, so even though a user cannot search for the suppressed child records, these records are still accessible via this downlink from the parent record. I would like to disable the downlink in this particular parent record.
How can I do this? We do not want these child records accessible at all in the WOPAC, but we do need to have the parent record display. Can I disable the automatic downlink in the parent:
a. Without having to remove each LKR field in each of the child records?
b. Without disabling the downlink functionality in ALL parent records in our WOPAC where this exists?
Resolution:
1. Duplicate the parent record.
2. Delete the LKR fields from the new record. And indicate, in a non-displayable note, that it is a duplicate of record nnnnnnnn and that it has been created for display purposes.
3. Add an STA $$aSuppressed tag to the original record, to suppress it from OPAC display. (This presumes that your OPAC base is excluding Suppressed records.) (And add a note indicating that record yyyyyyyyy is a duplicate created for display purposes.)
