    Display of garbage 'Note' in upper pane of course doc

    • Article Type: General
    • Product: Aleph
    • Product Version: 19.01

    Description:
    In testing version 19 course reserves, I am seeing an anomoly that I cannot find explained in the documentation. I'm connected to ABC50 on version 19:

    In the Administrative Tab of ABC50 Circ module, select SOC335 in the list of courses, then select Course Doc List in navigation pane. With the course list displayed, note at the bottom of the upper pane there is a line “Note:” with odd, "garbage" characters like " | ^ uv o '|[ " . The course doc in the lower pane indicates there are two notes. These notes display fine in the lower pane.

    Resolution:
    The note which displays at the bottom of the upper pane is not the (xxx30) Doc record note but rather the (xxx50) z108 Course record note (z108_note). I did the following as a test:

    SQL-abc50> update z108 set z108_note = 'Test z108 note - jerry' where z108_rec_key like 'SOC%';

    1 row updated.

    SQL-abc50> commit;

    If you display the doc for Course SOC335 now, you will now see this note at the bottom of the top pane.

    I believe that this problem is one which occurs only for the last course. When there are only 2 or 6 courses, it seems like a problem, but when there are 300 courses, it will be less so....

    If you or other sites feel that it warrants action will do so, but my inclination -- with so many other things to be done -- is to leave it as is....
