Do we need the z403 table if we don't have ADAM?

    • Article Type: General
    • Product: Aleph
    • Product Version: 20, 21, 22, 23

    Description:
We have not purchased ADAM and are not considering purchasing the product.

Can we omit z403 from our bib library file_list's?

    Resolution:

Though the Tables document describes the z403 as being only for ADAM, it is also used in the ALEPH edit_doc_999 for Electronic Resource links:

    M - Electronic resource link
! - in effect only if the field contains
    ! subfield "u"
    ! - uses col.3 of tab_buf_z403 instead of
    ! cols.3,4 and 6 of edit_doc_999 for

    (tab_buf_z403 generates z403 records.)

If you have type "M" entries specified in edit_doc_999 and fields for those entries containing subfield "u", it would seem that you should have a z403 table defined for the xxx01 library.  In any case, its presence shouldn't hurt anything.
