    Does implementing rpc 3681 also work for IE 7 and 8?

    • Article Type: Q&A
    • Product: Aleph
    • Product Version: 20

    Question

    Because there are PCs with Aleph GUIs where Internet Explorer 9 is installed I am going to execute the steps described at rep_change #3681.
    Will barcodes be displayed correctly to PCs with previous versions of Internet explorer (7,8);

    * rep_change #003681 *

    Description: GUI Printing - When Internet Explorer 9 is installed, the barcode fonts supplied with the Aleph version are neither displayed in "print preview", nor printed if the variable "NewPrintType" is set to "N".

    Solution: This has been corrected by supplying a new set of "Carolina barcode fonts" for IE9. The Aleph Service Pack contains a special installation program for these fonts - FontsIE9.exe. See the Implementation Notes.

    Answer

    The new fonts work correctly in the previous Internet Explorer versions

    Additional Information

    Here is a tip from Vladimir Pavek that will allow to use the same XSL file also on PCs running IE8 without installing the new fonts:

    If you repair the font in the style
    <font style="font-family='CarolinaBar-B39-25G0 Regular',
    'CarolinaBar-B39-2.5-22x158x720';font-size=12pt;">*<xsl:value-of select="/printout/section-01/z308-key-data"/>*</font>
    then you can use Windows 7, 32 and 64-bit ...
