Error parsing find request" with parentheses

    • Article Type: General
    • Product: Aleph
    • Product Version: 14.2

    Description:
We've found that keyword searches with parentheses on our Test server are causing an error: "Error parsing find request". Same search in our production server works just fine.

To replicate: in the GUI OPAC Find search: Title (WTI): Milton quarterly (Online) = error on grammy in the GUI Opac Find search: Title (WTI): Milton quarterly (Online) = 829865 I've also had this problem with the 035 index, WAU, WNO.

It seems if you enclose the entire statement in parens it will work, but using parens in the middle of the statement causes the error, for example in WNO, '(p.100-103)' worked just fine, but 'bibliog* (p.100-103)' caused the error.

    Resolution:
You are correct that parentheses cannot be used in the middle of a query, but can be used if the entire query is enclosed in parentheses. This is the way the parser is designed to work.
