Field tag 'nnn' not valid" -- despite updating bib library with usm01 tables

    • Article Type: General
    • Product: Aleph
    • Product Version: 20

    Problem Symptoms:
Despite having copied the updated usm01 Aleph tables to your local xxx01 bib library {as described in Article 000004673 ("Preparation for incoming OCLC RDA records"), sent to the Global Aleph Users list on Friday, March 29, 2013), catalogers get the "Field tag 'nnn' not valid" message (-- such as, "Field tag '264' not valid") when saving RDA records.

Note: unless the Error Code has been changed to "M" in check_doc_mandatory, the error *is* overridable.

    Cause:
The necessary $data_tab check_doc_line entry to determine the validity of the tags was missing.

    Resolution:
    Apply v20 Service Pack 3798 (Oct. 2012) (which includes an updated version of check_doc_line -- rep_change 3797).

    Additional Information

    a usm01 check_doc_line was included in v20 rep_change 3039 -- but it seems this check_doc_line lacked certain of the new tags/subfields.

See Article 000003167 ("RDA: usm01 check_doc_line missing 264 tag") for two additional RDA tags which are missing.
