    GUI Advanced search functionality

    • Product: Aleph
    • Product Version: 20, 21, 22, 23
    • Relevant for Installation Type: Dedicated-Direct, Direct, Local, Total Care

    Description:
In the Advanced Search in the GUI, we're confused about how it's supposed to work. An example:

Sublibrary=LWSH AND Collection=REF does not return only items with sublibrary LWSH and Collection REF ... it returns titles with items at LWSH and *all other sublibraries* which have items in REF, i.e. hundreds of results.

So a search on all xxx01 limited by only LWSH and REF returns the title 'Developing practical adult nursing skills' -- with the only LWSH item (3690134615) in the main lending ML collection, but with another item (3690099537 at sublibrary CVOL) in REF collection. So it's picking up an item from a sublibrary not defined in the query.

This is totally different from ret-adm-01, which correctly identifies LWSH + REF items only. We would expect the Advanced Search to work in the same way, otherwise we can't identify items with that combination without searching through hundreds of false hits.

    Resolution:
The setting which required for searching sublibrary and collection in same item:

    ONE
    mirib@il-aleph07(a20_3) USM01> grep WSC tab11_word
    PST## bc 04 WSC

    TWO
    mirib@il-aleph07(a20_3) USM01> grep WSC tab00.eng
    H WSC W-032 00 00 W-Sub-Col

    THREE
    mirib@il-aleph07(a20_3) USM01> grep WSC pc_tab_sear.eng
    FI USM01 L Sub-Col WSC

    FOUR
Then for procedure 04 of tab_word_beaking have:
    04 # subf_to_sign -
That means change the second subfield ($$c for collection) to a dash
    The next line:
    04 # del_subfield
gets rid of the $$b at the beginning before sub library.

    FIVE
Re-start ue_01, web server and pc server
    Re-index the database
