GUI version check connecting to correct ALEPH instance?

    • Article Type: General
    • Product: Aleph
    • Product Version: 18.01

    Description:
Our version 18 GUI client is at level 18.01, but the server instance it is connecting to is 18.02 (a18_2). Is this a problem? (We think that our version-check may be looking in the wrong place.)

    Resolution:
You suggest that you are using 18.02. Is this based on the fact that you have "a18_2" as your instance?

If so, that is not correct. To see what version you are using enter the "ver" command. You should see the following:

    ... Aleph 18 revision 01 copy 2.

These come from the following values in aleph_start:

    setenv ALEPH_VERSION 18
    setenv ALEPH_COPY 2
    setenv ALEPH_REVISION 01

The GUI client matches on the version and revision to see if the server is at the correct level; it is not concerned about the "copy" number. (It is the port which you specify in library.ini that directs the client to the correct copy/instance.)
