Getting Correct FMT in a Record Imported via Z39.50 in the GUI

    • Article Type: General
    • Product: Aleph
    • Product Version: 18.01

    Description:
When retrieving records from OCLC via Z39.50 in the GUI and copying them to ABC01 they have a FMT of ‘XX’.
Is there a way to get the correct FMT in these records?

    Resolution:
    1) In $alephe_root/gate, add the following line to your oclc configuration file:
    Z58-IN-RECORD-FIX OCLCB
["OCLCB" can be a name of your choice.]

    2) Add the following line to tab_fix in the ext01 tab directory (where "OCLCB" matches the name you chose above):
    OCLCB fix_doc_create_fmt

You can add other fix lines if you wish, such as a fix_doc_do_file_08 routine to convert the OCLC 001 field to an 035.

A more detailed explanation using the Library of Congress Z39.50 is attached.
