    HTMLPrint in Aleph 22 no longer supports Select/Copy from Preview

    • Article Type: Q&A
    • Product: Aleph
    • Product Version: 22

    Question

    Why can we no longer use the 'Select/Copy' from Print Preview?

    .\alephcom\tab\alephcom.ini has
    NewPrintType=Y

    Answer

    The Print Preview in Aleph 22 is created by HTMLPrint, not using Internet Explorer any longer.
    HTMLPrint does not offer the 'Select/Copy' functionality.

    To adress this issue in 22.1 Minor Release a new option "Browse HTML" has been introduced (rep_change #2107). This option can be used to Select/Copy.

    Additional Information

    The Release Notes inform about this fact:
    "* In the Preview mode, embedded IE options are not available in the new HTMLPrint preview window.

    For example:
    * Text selection option
    * View source option"

    See section 'New HTMLPrint' in 'Aleph 22 Release Notes'.

    *******
    Possible workaround if you require 'Copy & Paste' functionality from lists before installing 22.1 Minor Release:

    - Use F11 to print a list (with option 'Preview')
    - The HTMLPrint preview is opened. In parallel a temporary *.html file is saved to the PC (usually C:\temp\Aleph as defined in the alephcom.ini file).
    - Open this file with a browser to copy relevant text parts
