Hold requests / GUI / OPAC

Question

Patron of a specific sublibrary should not be allowed to do hold requests in the OPAC but the Librarian however should be able to do a hold request with the GUI Client on the loan desk. How can this be achieved?

Answer

Restrict the patron from creating a hold request by a setting in the patron's record [tab 3. Local privileges] for a specific sublibrary. Staff user (librarian) is still able to place a hold request in the Aleph GUI, circulation module by overwriting the warning "Patron does not have permission to place a hold request."
