    The hot backup script generates the following email:

    Subject: Backup error on : 26-11-2009 00:20:01 ora_hot

    Oracle DB: alephp
    Backup type: ora_hot
    Message Number: 08
    Hot backup can be done only when running in archive mode

    Resolution:
    It seems that the operation to correct the Insufficient privileges (KB 16384-21953) / the reboot of the server stopped archive logging for some reason. util o/7/3 showed:

    so I turned it on (util o/7/1):

    idle> Database closed.
    Database dismounted.
    ORACLE instance shut down.
    ...
    ...
    Database mounted.
    idle>
    Database altered.

    idle>
    Database altered.

    idle> Disconnected from Oracle Database 11g Enterprise Edition Release 11.1.0.7.0 - 64bit Production
    With the Partitioning, OLAP, Data Mining and Real Application Testing options

    Restarting Aleph servers and Aleph Daemons.
    ...
    ...
    All done

    Note: the preceding util o/7/1 will *not* work if the site is Two-Task, with a separate database server.
