    Description

How can you tell what PCs have the print daemon?

    Resolution

The print daemon runs on each individual PC. There is no way to see on the Aleph server which PC's it's running on.

By default, *every* PC has the ability to run the print daemon.  Bring up a GUI client (Circ, Cat, etc.), click on the "Admin" pencil box, and then click on the "Print Daemon" link in the tree on the left.  On the right, you will see the option "Activate" (-- or, if the print daemon is currently active on this machine,  the option "Deactivate").

(This is the default.  It's possible, but unlikely, that your system administrator has denied this privilege to certain staff.)

Another way to see if it's active is to do CTL-ALT-Delete on a machine, and click on "Task Manager" and select "Processes".  If it's active, you will see  "Aleph Print Daemon" in the "Apps" section at the top.
