How does Aleph know the "type" of a library?

    • Article Type: General
    • Product: Aleph
    • Product Version: 19.01

    Description:
How does Aleph know whether a particular library's a bib library, ADM library, etc.?

    Resolution:
    1. The DOC-TYPE in tab100, such as,

    DOC-TYPE-BIB=
    DOC-TYPE-ADM=
    Etc.

    2. library_relation relationships, such as:

    ADM USM01 USM50 USM51 USM52
    BIB USM50 USM01 USM20 USM30
    Etc.

    3. Aleph uses the $data_root/prof_library file_list_type:

    file_list_type BIB
    file_list_type ADM
    Etc.

to determine what $aleph_root/tab template (such as, file_list.BIB, file_list.ADM, etc.) to look in when a table is not specified in the $data_root/file_list. But this is the *only* way it uses the file_list_type.

Note: there is nothing special about the library *number*. Aleph does *not* assume that an xxx01 library is a bib library, an xxx50 library is an ADM library, etc.
