How to change loan return date for ILL items

    • Article Type: General
    • Product: Aleph
    • Product Version: 16.02

    Description:
In our set up when an item is received in ILL it is automatically loaned.
We would like to know if it is possible to make Aleph ignore the library closed dates for calculation of the loan period.
Example: Although the library is closed in August we continue to provide an ILL service.
Because the library is closed from 1st to 31st August the ILL loans are automatically made for return after the loan period which is not acceptable to our ILL partners as they wish items to be returned within the usual period.

We tried to change the date in the circulation module but this doesn't work.
We don't normally use the recall function but this does not appear to work either in order to shorten the date after the item has been received and automatically loaned in ILL.
Is there a way to configure one of the tables for item status 72 to ignore the closed days table?

    Resolution:
It *is* possible for ILL loan dates to be modified in circlation. But when changing a due date, the system checks tab17 so when you try to change the Due date: 03/09/07 to e.g. 17/08/2007 this doesn't work because the whole month of August is defined as closed. I temporarily deactivated the line in tab17 and then tried to change the date again and this time it worked.

Closing days in the sense of tab17 should be used to define periods when there are no circulation services. So when you say "Although the physical library is closed we continue all loan and copy services to Commission officials coming in via email and the OPAC. The ILL service used to close down in August but now remains open to patrons as above" I think you are right in changing the library closed dates.
