How to tell if p_manage_17 has been run

    • Article Type: General
    • Product: Aleph
    • Product Version: 17.01

    Description:
We believe that p_manage_17 may not have been run at our site when p_manage_02 was run. How can we tell?

    Resolution:
You can tell whether p_manage_17 has been run by the value of the library's util g/2 last-long-acc-number. If it is close to the last-acc-number -- in the vicinity of the number of headings that existed at the time p_manage_02 was last run--, that indicates that p_manage_17 was run at that time. If the last-long-acc-number is 0, that indicates that p_manage_17 was not run.

Also, p_manage_17 orders the long headings (more than 69 characters). If p_manage_17 has not been run, staff and patrons will usually be complaining that these long headings are not in order.

Note: When run with option "C" (as it should be), p_manage_17 reads the last-long-acc-number to decide where to start. If it is your intention to run p_manage_17 for all headings, the last-long-acc-number needs to be 0.
