    Description

Is Oracle 19c (Oracle 12.2.0.3) available with Aleph?  (And Primo?)

    Resolution

As noted in the Aleph version / Oracle version relationships  article, starting with Aleph 23.3 the use of Oracle 12.2.0.3 (Oracle 19c) is certified. {Oracle 12.2.02 (Oracle 18c) is not certified.}  Aleph 23.3 will continue to use Oracle 12c as a standard. Upgrades to Oracle 19c are only upon request.

Because the transition to Oracle 19c (12.2.0.3) is rather complicated, the version 23.3 Service Packs will continue to be distributed with Oracle 12c (12.1).   Customers on Aleph 23.3 have the option of requesting an upgrade to Oracle 19c.    As stated in the Oracle article referenced in the  “Aleph and Oracle Support: Oracle 11.1; 11.2.0.4; 12.1; 12.2 " knowledge article:   “Extended Support for Database 12.1 runs to July 31, 2021.”    Thus, Aleph customers have the option of continuing to use 12c (12.1) rather than going to 19c (12.2.0.3).

Though the V23.4 AIK (Aleph Installation Kit) will be released with: Oracle 19c (requiring OS RHEL 7), the version 23.4 Minor Release (25/Jan/2021) will *not* install Oracle 19c.  It will still be done only upon request.

The situation with Primo is similar: customers using Oracle 12c with Primo can request this upgrade to 19c.
