Is it possible to prevent recall of loans from certain borrower statuses?

    • Article Type: General

    Description:
Is there any way to protect a category of patrons from having their loans recalled?

For example, if an item is on loan to a certain borrower status that is used for reserves processing, we would like patrons to be prevented from placing a recall on that item.

    Resolution:
check_hold_request_w in the ADM library tab_hold_request prevents requests on items with certain item statuses or which are on loan to patrons with certain borrower statuses.

Note: This site has asked for enhancement of this function by adding the sublibrary (to borrower status and item status) as a third parameter in column three of the check_hold_request_w line.

For example, although borrower status 62 is intended for "in house pseudopatrons," one sublibrary might want these items recallable and another may not. If the check included a third parameter for Z305_sublib, then it could be made to apply to only certain sublibs. Our pseudopatron records have no loan permissions at the ABC50 level, only at the sublibrary level.
