Items need different fine rate; adding new item status

    • Article Type: General
    • Product: Aleph
    • Product Version: 20

    Description:
I need to change the fine rate for MED sublibrary item status 07 (1 day loans) to $1 but for MED sublibrary only, right now all sub library are grouped under the same ID, so I know I need to add something to tab_sub_library.eng file in alephe_tab before I can make my change tab16, but I'm not sure what.

    something like this:
MED 1 ABC50 L Parks Library - Media Center ABC50 MED MED MED ABC50 ALEPH

but can i still leave the original line and not confuse things:

    MED 1 ABC50 L Parks Library - Media Center ABC50 ABC50 MED MED ABC50 ALEPH

    Resolution:
There can be only a single line in tab_sub_library for a particular sublibrary code; you can not have 2 "MED" lines.

    You have two choices:

    1. add a new item status for these MED 07 items.

    2. add a new sublibrary

I think #1 (new item status) is the better choice. Here's what you would do:

    a. add the new code to tab15.eng, tab16, and tab17. Other tables using the item status (tab14, tab18.eng, tab32, tab34, tab36, tab37, tab43) should also be checked -- but in most cases you will find that it is covered by a wild card.

    b. run p_ret_adm_01 (General Retrieval Form, under "Items") to retrieve all MED / item status 07 items.

    c. use the file produced by step b as input to p_manage_62 (Update item records, also under "Items"), specifying "07" as the "From item status" and __ as the "To item status".
