Items not deleting; ORA-00600: internal error code, arguments: [kcbz_check_objd_

    • Article Type: General
    • Product: Aleph
    • Product Version: 18.01

    Description:
Our users are reporting problems with item record deletion:

"We are finding random occurrences of 2 situations in which item records are failing to delete. 1) Simple deletion command generates "Failed to delete" message. E.g., barcode 312066033336550, on bib. 2692210. 2) Attempt to transfer item from fly record to true bib record results in a copy of item on true bib, but item remains on fly bib, creating duplicate barcode situation. E.g. bib. 4729079 (fly) and bib. 2524430 (real)"

"I am logged in to Aleph Acquisitions and am trying to delete some EXPECTED journal holdings on a canceled journal record and I get the message FAILED TO DELETE ITEM. I logged out and re-logged in and I still get this message. This is something I normally do daily under my log-in password. Am I missing something here?" "

"I'm trying to send items out to bind. ALEPH keeps getting 'stuck'. I tried to delete an item - after several seconds ALEPH says, 'failed to delete item.'"

These problems began to appear about a week ago and are impacting work flow at this point.

    Later:
This problem is occurring more frequently. Our staff member responsible for bindery transactions is now unable to function at all, in that when creating a new volume, the collapsed items are not being deleted. A number of others are unable to delete single item records. Work and material is backing up in a number of locations. Please expedite this request by all available means.

One further development: we've tried to delete many of the same items on our test database, and were successful in all cases.

    Resolution:
I see 13 occurrences of the following Oracle error in the current pc_server log:

    Oracle error: io_z30_delete
    ORA-00600: internal error code, arguments: [kcbz_check_objd_typ_3], [0
    Z30-REC-KEY= 004488139000010
    Delete ERROR-CODE= 11

    And 23 occurrences of:

    Oracle error: io_z30_update
    ORA-00600: internal error code, arguments: [kcbz_check_objd_typ_3], [

(This site has a “two-task” configuration, with a separate database server.) Checking the /exlibris/app/oracle/admin/aleph0/bdump/alert_aleph0.log on the database server, we see the following corresponding errors there:

Later, from site: Our Aleph Oracle database was moved to a new server this weekend. All item deletions that we have attempted this morning (Mon 8/18) are working, including those that were failing last week.
