Link Number for Publication Pattern created in Aleph v18

    • Article Type: General
    • Product: Aleph
    • Product Version: 18.01

    Description:
When a publication pattern is created for a serial record in Aleph v18, the Link No. for the pattern created is defaulted to "0".

If more than 1 pattern is created, the Link No. is "0" for the first pattern while the second is "1".

In Aleph v16, the Link No. starts from "1".

Can you explain the difference between aleph16 and 18 here? I cannot find this in the documentation.

    Resolution:
There is indeed an undocumented change in pattern link counters. But the change between the two aleph versions (16 and 18) is only in the display, there is no change in functionality.

$$8 Link number serving as the identification of a

    "pair" of 85x/85xX fields (NR)

If you want to change the link no. to e.g. match with the copy number, sub-field 8 may be manually added and updated in HOL record.
