    Question

The fix program fix_doc_own_1 inserts the value of the Cat. OWN ID field of the cataloger to the OWN field of a new record.

When saving record to server in Cataloging module, if no OWN tag exists, the fix creates new OWN tag. If the OWN tag exists, the fix does not change the OWN tag.

However, when running "Load ALEPH Sequential MARC Records (manage-18)", using fix routine fix_doc_own_1, the OWN tag is changed to $$aPUBLIC, whether present or not. Why does this happen?

    Answer

When OWN field is created by manage-18 and fix_doc_own_1, a new OWN field is always created.

If the Cataloger field is not populated, then it's like an update is done by a cataloger with no OWN ID. In this case, fix_doc_own_1 created field OWN with value "PUBLIC".

If the Cataloger field is populated, then OWN field is overwritten with the OWN ID of the Cataloger.
