Loan -> Open Hours: "Server failed to execute request after 60 seconds."

    • Article Type: General
    • Product: Aleph
    • Product Version: 18.01

    Description:
There is a problem with updating the calendar via Circ GUI (Loan -> Open Hours). After finishing one entry and getting the signal of "Processing request, please wait...", a message box popped up: "Server failed to execute request after 60 seconds." This happened repeatedly the whole day yesterday and today.

Looking in that xxx50 $data_tab on the server, tab17_new is automatically created and constantly growing.

The initial tab17.new 7AB lines are the same as the tab17, but several hundred lines down, lines are inserted, with a line for every subsequent day in the 21st century:

    7AB 20100118 C --existed

    7AB 20091228 O 0900 1645 --inserted
    7AB 20091229 O 0900 1645 --existed
    7AB 20091230 O 0900 1645 --inserted
    7AB 20100131 O 0900 2145 --inserted
    7AB 20100201 O 0900 2145 --inserted
    7AB 20100202 O 0900 2145 --inserted
    ...
    ... <thousands of 7AB lines>
    ...
    7AB 20991207 O 0900 2145 --inserted
    <end>

It seems that something being done in the GUI triggers this generation of a line for every day in the 21st century.

    Resolution:
When you change the "To" segment to blank, the system thinks that there is no end-date and just keeps going and going.

This bug is corrected by v20 rep_change 3183 (which also fixes the problem described in KB 16384-30115).

In the meantime, as a workaround, when you are changing a date-range to a single date, we found that the following sequence works:

    1. Do "Clear line" on the line you want to change.

    2. Click on "Edit Line" and insert the date you want to change from a range to a single date in the "From" date, leaving the "To" date blank.

[Note: I tried repeating the "From" date as the "To" date, but got the message 'Date 'From' ... is later than Date 'To', when I clicked on Apply, so we ended up with the two steps above.]

A one-step workflow is to change the lines with the specific dates to the others with specific dates, and change the lines with periods to other periods.
