Message on item return: Unable to find Global Patron Information for a Remote Storage facility

    • Product: Aleph
    • Product Version: 20, 21, 22, 23
    • Relevant for Installation Type: Dedicated-Direct, Direct, Local, Total Care

    Description

When we return a particular item we get the message "Unable to find Global Patron Information for a Remote Storage facility".  This sub-library does not use Remote Storage.  Why are we getting this message?

    Resolution

As noted in the z30.pdf document (Z30.pdf in Version 22
https://knowledge.exlibrisgroup.com/...les/Version_22), " The Z30-DEPOSITORY-ID field contains the code of the remote storage facility where the item is located. The field is used to indicate that item "belongs" to the remote storage, regardless of the sublibrary, collection and processing status fields. When an item with a Z30-DEPOSITORY-ID is returned, if there are no awaiting requests, the item is loaned automatically to the remote storage facility (Z303-ID = Z30-DESPOSITORY-ID) and it appears in the OPAC as 'In transit'. Remote storage codes are defined in the pc_tab_exp_field.lng table of the library’s tab directory.

In this case, a value had been (mistakenly) placed in the item's z30_depository_id field which was not a valid Z303-ID. Deleting it made it so the message no longer appeared.
