Missing items in report of Items in High Demand (cir-14)

    • Article Type: Q&A
    • Product: Aleph
    • Product Version: 21

    Question

    * The run of Report of items in high demand (cir-14) doesn't produce the correct results.
    * Iitems which should have appeared in the report (because in GUI 3 requests are displayed) failed to do so.

    Answer

In Aleph there is an automatic mechanism that for checking holds during return and for display in GUI, all holds are counted that are created either for exactly this item or for any like item attached to the same title.

But cir-14 does not check for any like items but only reports the number of holds that are created for an exact item.

    Example:
Item Barcode AB1 currently only has 1 Z37-record (hold record) linked.

There are two other holds for other items AB2 and AB2 linked to the same title.

So p_cir_14 would count 1 hold for each of these items while in GUI you may see 3 holds for each of these items.

The service was designed this way on purpose as only items are considered "high demand" that have more that x requests attached. If for example you have a title with 5 items that have in total 5 requests this should not be considered as high demand as long these requests are attached to different items.
