Moving server: change of IP address

    • Article Type: General
    • Product: Aleph
    • Product Version: 20, 21, 22, 23

    Description:

We are moving our server to a new building, where it will have a different IP address.
What changes do we need to make to ALEPH tables to accommodate this?

    Resolution:

For each PC: the .\ALEPHCOM\TAB\library.ini file might have the server name or IP address.

If copying the installation, put in the new address.
If moving the installation, if the file had the numeric address (rather than the hostname), you will need to change it.

On the server side: The following files have the server address. If they have it in numeric form (rather than the hostname), you will need to change it:

    1. $alephe_root/aleph_start
    2. $alephe_root/www_server.conf
    3. $alephe_root/apache/conf/httpd.conf
    4. Initial Apache page ( file .index.html )
    5. /etc/hosts
    6. You will need new $alephe_tab/license and ./license.www_x files with the new external IP address and, if relevant, the new internal address.
Contact Ex Libris Support to have these created.
    7. Restart Aleph and Apache to recognize the changes.
