New records are unretrievable using Keyword or Browse

    • Article Type: General
    • Product: Aleph
    • Product Version: 17.01

    Description:
Records created in the GUI can't be retrieved except by system number.

They can't be located using indexes such as author, title, any keyword, etc.

Previously, newly created records were immediately available via all indexes.

    Resolution:
The ue_01 indexing daemon is responsible for updating the Word and Browse indexes. The last $data_scratch run_e_01 log had these last lines:

    Oracle error: io_commit
    ORA-03113: end-of-file on communication channel

    HANDLING DOC NO. - ABC01.000215037 09:10:38

    Oracle error: io_commit
    ORA-03114: not connected to ORACLE

    ***************************************************
    * No ORACLE connection - process is terminated... *
    ***************************************************
    <end run_e_01 log lines>

"select count(*) from z07;" showed that there were 248 unprocessed z07 records.

Util c/1 showed that there was no active ue_01_a process, but the ue_01_word and ue_01_z0102 were still active. Normally util e/2 would be used to stop the ue_01 processes but when the ue_01_word and ue_01_z0102 are running without the ue_01_a, they need to be killed. I noted the process number in the util c/1 display and used the kill command to end them.

Then I did util e/1 to restart the ue_01_a (and the ue_01_word and ue_01_z0102 ). The new $data_scratch run_e_01.nnnn log created by this restart shows that the z07 records are now being processed as they should be.
