New records question: increase in tablespace size to accommodate them

    • Article Type: General
    • Product: Aleph
    • Product Version: 18.01

    Description:
We are anticipating early next year having a very large influx of new records, at least 100,000. This would account for about 5% of our current bib count.

What Oracle table space, indexes, etc. should our DBAs look at in order to accomodate this rapid growth?

    Resolution:
The data tables and index tables associated with bib records (HOLs, items, Browse index, Word index) account for almost all of the space used in the system. I think you should plan on increasing *all* tablespaces by 5%.

If you have a lot of authority records, the tablespace those records reside in may be able to get by with a smaller increase.
