OK to delete 37 GB 0tm01v44_1_1 file in ./oracle/product/11/dbs directory?

    • Article Type: General
    • Product: Aleph
    • Product Version: 20

    Description:
We are very close to capacity on the exlibris filespace on libprddb2. In the /exlibris/app/oracle/product/11/dbs directory there are several files that dont exist in the same directory on libprddb1 in particular, 0tm01v44_1_1 which is 37 GB in size. Can this file be deleted, or is there some process that will clear it?

I've also posed this question to our local DBAs, and they recommend deleting the file with your approval.

    Resolution:
Did you upgrade Oracle on Dec 20? If so, we believe that these 0tm01v44_1_1, 0um0205d_1_1, and 0vm0205g_1_1 are (RMAN?) backups which you generated as part of that upgrade.

We suggest that you save these files to tape before deleting them.

We suggest that, in the future, to avoid such confusion, you *not* write such files to the ./dbs/ directory but instead write them to a directory such as /exlibris/backups.
