OPAC ignores my edit_doc_999.<lng> settings for PST and LOC fields

    • Article Type: General
    • Product: Aleph
    • Product Version: 18.01

    Description:
I have a PST## entry in my edit_doc_999.eng table that specifies that the system should use the "D" entry in edit_field.eng and should filter the PST field based on its content. It looks like this:

    ## PST## i -*reel* D LPST Location Y L E

It should only display the PST field if the subfield i does not contain the string "reel". But these things don't appear to work.

    Resolution:
PST fields, as well as some others including LOC fields, are not handled the same way as other fields by the Web OPAC for the full/999 display. Because there is some special handling for locations, call numbers, etc., these fields are handled by entirely different code. Two side effects of this are that for PST fields, the "L" entry in edit_field is the only one that is ever used for the full display. Also, no filtering of contents is performed on these fields.
